Railed Pitch Redevelopment

Trinity Gaels Pitch Redevelopment

Dear member,

We are fortunate to have good playing and training facilities for all our teams. With our growing number of teams and members, it is important that we look to the future and continue to invest and develop our pitches.

In recent years, with increased teams and pitch usage, along with changing weather conditions, we have found our pitches to be unplayable resulting in downtime for team matches and training.

With this in mind, we are undertaking a pitch drainage project on the ‘railed pitch’ closest to the hurling wall. The work will involve stripping back the current surface and relaying drains. This work will be disruptive but a worthwhile investment for all teams as we continue to grow in 2025.

More details on the work can be found at the contractor’s website: Pitch Drainage & Pitch Construction | O’Carroll Sportsturf Services (ocarrollsportsturf.ie)

The aim is to commence the work in October with the hope that the pitch can re-open in April 2025 (subject to many factors but especially the weather). The railed pitch development is coming at a considerable cost to the club (circa €80k) and to ensure we get the best result we would ask the following when the works gets underway:

  • Teams/Members to stay off the railed pitch
  • Treat safety as a priority during the works
  • For Teams to understand we will need to make sacrifices during this time (e.g. constrained space for training / increased use of Donaghmede Park)

The goal is to improve our pitch surfaces and we will need everyone’s support to help us realise this ambition.

If you have any queries, please reach out to me or to the Secretary Mailbox copied or any of our Committee Members. Finally, we will hold an information evening in the coming weeks in the Clubhouse to discuss further.

Regards,

Trinity Gaels G.A.A. Committee
